MODERNLİK, GELENEK VE DİN İLİŞKİSİ: BİR MODERNLEŞME KURAMI ELEŞTİRİSİ  Ayşe ŞALLI  Özet: Modernleşme Kuramı, Aydınlanma Döneminin ortaya çıkardığı yeni şartları tespit ederek, ortaya çıkan sorunları çözmek amacıyla kendine özgü bir bakış açısı geliştirmiştir. Buna göre, Aydınlanma ile birlikte Batı Avrupa ve dünya için yeni bir süreç başlamıştır. Bu sürecin öncesi ‘geleneksel’e ilişkindir, geride kalmıştır ve kalmalıdır. Sürecin devamı ise ‘Modern’ olandır ve yeni olanı, geleceğe egemen olanı ifade etmektedir. Bu anlamda ‘din’ de ‘geleneksel’ olanın bir parçasıdır ve onunla aynı kaderi paylaşacaktır. Ancak yaşanan tarihi ve sosyal süreçler ve bunlar üzerine yapılan bilimsel çalışmalar Modernleşme Kuramı’nın ‘gelenek-modernlik’ şeklindeki zıt kutuplu yaklaşımının yanlışlığını gözler önüne sermiştir. Bu çalışma da Modernleşme Kuramı’nın bu zıt kutuplu yaklaşımına bir eleştiri mahiyetindedir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Modernleşme Kuramı, Gelenek, Modernlik, Din. Relation Between Modernity, Traidition and Religion: A Critic of Theory of Modernization Abstract Theory of Modernization has identified the new conditions and developed a specific perspective to solve problems that emerged in the Age of Enlightenment. According to this theory, with the Enlightenment, a new course has begun for the West and the world. Previous era had been related with ‘traditional’; it has been behind and it will be behind. The sequel of the process is ‘modern’ and this newness will dominate the future. In this regard ‘religion’ is a part of the ‘traditional’ and it will share the same destiny with it. But the experienced historical and social processes and scientific researches on this issues has indicated that the opposite pole approach of the modernization theory has been false. This study is also a critic of this dichotomy.
