Este artículo analiza la fcción serial House of Cards (Netfix, 2013-), específcamente, los roles de Claire y Frank Underwood; un estudio que dará comienzo entendiendo a los discursos televisivos fccionales como excelentes vehículos de signifcados que pueden proveer a las audiencias de marcos para interpretar y entender la realidad. Bajo este contexto, el interés de este análisis se centrará en un estudio comparativo sobre la representación del liderazgo femenino y masculino que se da en dicho drama político, intentando arrojar luz sobre las estrategias, positivas o negativas, que atribuye la producción a cada uno cuando detenta el poder. Para ello, se ha empleado una metodología que recoge conceptos de la narrativa audiovisual y teorías del poder, cuyos resultados determinan las diferencias que existen entre ambos personajes cuando ejercen el liderazgo. This paper analyzes the fction serial House of Cards (2013-), broadcasted by Netfix, concretely examining the roles of Claire and Frank Underwood. It’s starting point is the assumption that television narratives have the capacity to provide its audiences with useful frameworks to interpret reality; more specifcally, some of its products, despite belonging to the realm of fction, build explanatory interpretations of society. From there, our research focuses on the study of the representation of leadership in this political drama, both male and female, with the purpose of establishing which one is most effcient in this show. With this aim, the methodology draws concepts from Audiovisual Narrative and Power Studies and the discussion of its results focuses on the differences represented in both characters in their respective leaderships.
