The management expertise a student acquires must enable him to develop, integrate, think, communicate, interpret, analyze information, conceptualize and derive business strategies and arrive at the most possible and optimum decisions. He is a trained to handle multitasking, setting objectives and implementing and developing learning talents and ensuring their career growth, with a sense of ownership, commitment and integrity. In other words, modern B-school education needs to provide the quintessential technical, interpersonal and conceptual skill required to manage the most active and learning organizations in trade, commerce and technology of the modern days. In short, the B- education needs to help and equip the student with the skill to surmount the unfriendly landscapes of the dynamic corporate world with commitment, confidence, perseverance and a positive attitude. Building self-efficacy among management students will contribute to the development of efficacious outlook and behaviour. Keywords: Management Education, Self-efficacy, General Self Efficacy. Introduction Management education is considered as a preparatory programme re-engineering the MBA aspirants and enabling them to face turbulent business upheavals. Self-efficacy can be defined as an internal belief in one‟s knowledge, skill and capability which helps them face unstructured situations thereby producing the desired result. According to Albert Bandura, Self-efficacy is “the belief in one‟s capabilities to organize and execute a course of action required to manage a prospective situation” (Bandhura,1995). Business education in India Vs Kerala: Making the students employable by enhancing their employability skill is a challenge faced by management institutions. Statistics from AICTE website shows that only 45% of the students were placed in the academic year 2016-17: Table-1. There are more than 3300 management institutes offering the programme to more than 200000 students in India, whereas in Kerala (Table-2) there are 84 full time management institutes in Kerala accommodating7710 students annually. Of these, 77 colleges are affiliated to one of the five universities accepted by UGC. The proliferation of MBA colleges has eroded quality so much that successful students settle down for jobs with less than Rs 10,000 per month as initial salary. The ASSOCHAM has reported that only 7% of the MBA graduates are employable (this excludes the students from the first top 20 MBA Colleges and IIMs). Further, ASSOCHAM reports that on an average, a management student spends Rs 3 to 5 lakhs on a two-year MBA programme. According to ASSOCHAM, there is a gap between the objectives of students and their efficacy level because of the quality of the training provided at Tier 2 and Tier 3 colleges. Table 1 and Table 2 shows the management education scenario of India and the State of Kerala. The national average of placement is 42.5 and Kerala‟s is better with 54%. Importance of the Study Graduate business education is a big professional programme across the world and it is estimated to be around 65 billion US dollar. Management education and management practices are converging (Martin and Butler, 2000). It is at the cross roads. Established management institutions have created value through case studies and mini research projects. Branding has made inroads into management education. With mounting competition, renowned and credible MBA institutions are going global and branding their products. To create unique characteristics in their value chain, the business schools come with niche creations like „Accreditations‟. Through „accreditations‟ process, management institutions in UK and US remain
