Cloud computing is a new style of computing in which virtualised and standard resources, software and data are provided as a service over the World Wide Web.Cloud computing is a promising paradigm in the area of information technology and data processing communities. Lot of organizations such as enterprises, businesses, universities and institutions are utilizing cloud computing service to outsource data maintenance for better experience to use of resources and significant financial benefits also. Such organizations can store and access data at remote locations in the “cloud”. Users can store and maintain large amount of heterogenous data which will provide efficient information retrieval. In this paper, we focus on cloud based application computing model and cloud based services that can be provided the facility to users to discover and access the information resources easily. As the popularity of growing the cloud computing, the cloud service providers face ever increasing challenges which we will also discuss in this paper. Keywords: Cloud Computing, Cloud based Services, Libraries, E-Information Services, Cloud Service Providers. Introduction: The Cloud computing is an innovative technology in information technology dieseline to managing the cloud based services at global level. Cloud Computing is web based application computing model to provide the resources and services on-demand over the network. With the _____________________________________________________________________________________ 2 nd International Conference of Asian Libraries "Expanding Digital Footprints" October 26-28, 2017 development of new paradigm, a myriad of terms, concepts and approaches have emerged. It is expected that coming years will be time of Cloud dominant computing and it will go down in history as the era of the Cloud computing as the decade from 1960 to 1970 was time of mainframe systems. In second decade of 21 st century, it has been observed that Clouds have presented unprecedented popularity. But every application is not suitable for clouds based services. Kroski (2009) describes cloud computing as “using Web services for our computing needs”. Online Computer Library Centre (OCLC) defines the cloud computing as web-based application with shared data and services. Generalized Cloud computing refers to the delivery and usage patterns of service, and obtaining the necessary services by the on-demand and scalable way through the network. Users will pay only for those resources have been used by them. In libraries and information centres, cloud computing is adopting in their housekeeping operations, automation and provides digital services to users over internet. To provide the cloud based services, many libraries collaborated closely together to achieve ambitious targets in discovery and access of resources by the users. Currently, Library Professionals are feeling less reluctant in using clouds as challenges which were earlier associated with Clouds that are overtaken by its benefits. In Cloud environment, small to medium size libraries are planning to move towards Cloud based services. In Indian scenario applications of cloud is not much adopted in libraries due to technical and privacy etc issues. But, in near feature Indian libraries moving to implementing cloud technology, which is helpful in relieves library professionals/librarians from maintaining the own servers and software’s. The Cloud Computing Models: The Cloud computing is one hottest and rapidly growing topic of IT sector and it is popular as third revolution in information technology area just like parallel to computer and internet technology. Some information scientists use the term ‘Cloud Computing’ to refer to a new paradigm of computing while others treat it as a new technology that presents IT resources and services over the Internet. Actually, Cloud Computing offers high speed computing infrastructure, high speed large storage devices and software that the users can use through handheld, small, relatively slow and less powerful device connected via network to Cloud infrastructure. Cloud computing models are developed on the bases of utility of hardware, platform and software. Four distinguish models of cloud computing are provided by Cloud service provider like Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as
