NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF HEAT TRANSFER OF NANOFLUIDS IN A CHANNEL UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF POROUS AREA M. Aliakbari Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Science and Research Branch, Islamic Azad University, Tehran, Iran Published online: 15 February 2017 ABSTRACT In recent decades we have witnessed the increasing development of science in various fields that the direct consequence of the growth of technology and comfort is more to human beings. Science of heat transfer also is no exception and in recent years has undergone many changes and the result of efforts and studies conducted by scientists in the field of heat transfer. So in this study, flow and heat transfer of nanofluid are studied numerically in a channel. To investigate the issue raised in this article, as already stated need to numerical solution of the equations of continuity, momentum, energy and turbulence as well. For purpose of modeling, it has been assumed that half of channel is covered by porous area and naofluid is flown in it. For purpose of modeling, the equations of continuity, momentum, energy and turbulence have been solved numerically in the system and the results have been reported. In order to solve equations, meshed solution space and effective properties have been used for purpose of modeling nanofluid. The results, in special mode, have been compared to findings of other scholars and this shows good consistency of the results. After validation, the results are presented and show that Nusselt is an incremental function of nanofluid concentration and a decreasing function of porosity. Moreover, it is observed that the temperature of fluid is icreased with the increased concentration of nanofluid and is decreased with the decreased porosity percent.
