Psychological Aspects of Facebook English: Determinants of Personality Md. Rasel Kabir* Abstract Language is the most shared and dependable way for individuals to express their thoughts and emotions into a form that is intelligible to others. The words and language we use to communicate with others are the indispensable stuff of our psychology and communication. However, individuals’ choice of words and the ways of use carry a great deal of determining information about themselves, their audience, and the situations they are in. With the advancement of technology-based media, the use of English in social media, one of the platforms for determining personality, countenances the researchers to investigate the language from various angles to dependably and swiftly assess the subtleties of individual personality. Illustrating how psychological aspects of language are interconnected with person- ality determinants, this paper attempts to disclose how personalities can be deter- mined through analyzing the language used by individuals on Facebook- a social communication medium. Then, this paper demonstrates the connection between the personality variables- extraversion, neuroticism, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness- and the particles of language- pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, articles and prepositions along with their contextual usage. After that, the study analyzes sample datain relation to psychological aspects of language and personali- ty determinants through applying a qualitative approach. Finally, the paper unveils how Facebook English facilitates determining personality along with its real-life implications. From 2006 onwards, with the growth rate, it has grown much faster and captured millions of users in just a few years. It is obvious that it has brought a lot of advantages for the society. However, on the other hand, it has also affected the society in some negative ways. Cybercrimes like fraud and scams, security issues, reputation, cheating and relationship issues, glamorizes drugs and alcohol and so on are on the rise just because of misrepresentations and misunderstandings. Now, people, mostly, from teenage to newly young adult pupils, easily fall on a Facebook post (either written or image) posted by any celebrity. They even do not give it a thought to whether it is real or fake,good or bad and the like. They just jump on it to grasp before others like, comment and share it.
