Information Technology has altered the way a teacher delivers the lectures and students learn in and
outside the classroom. The current applications of information technology tools have left behind
the traditional teaching-learning methods. The new technologies have the potential to enhance
education across the curriculum and provide opportunities for effective communication between
teachers and students, which was not possible in past. ICT in education has the potential to be
influential in improving teaching processes. Given the importance of ICT in society and possibly in
the future of education, the discovery of possible obstacles to the inclusion of these technologies in
Higher Education would represent an important step to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
The paper reveals out the factors, which are responsible for effective use of IT tools in the
classroom. It further suggests the teachers, policymakers and educationists to develop an effective
plan to apply these tools in an efficient manner.
