International Journal of Innovative Education (ISSN 2393-8404) Nov, 2014 Volume 1 Issue 6 Use of Computer Assisted Learning in addressing Alternative Frameworks Rakesh Kumar Assistant Professor M. V. COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, University of Delhi. rakesh.sam21@gmail.com Abstract Researchers in the area of Computer Assisted Learning support the use of computers in the classroom. This use has been supported in many ways that can be non-interactive or interactive in nature. Computer use had been researched in many ways. Some of these uses are as visual aid supplier, for delivering coursework, supplying models and simulations, developing self- regulatory learning, cooperative and collaborative learning, construction and reconstruction of concepts. Specifically, in the area of learning science, the contemporary thought is concerned about the formation and addressing of Alternative Frameworks. It is a common observation that the teacher is not able to give individualised attention to each of the learner in the classroom. Moreover, there are constraints like representation of 3-dimensions in 2- dimensional books. Another common observation is that the price of computers is decreasing rapidly and the performance is increasing manifolds. In this context if Computer Assisted Learning materials can be used for addressing Alternative Frameworks amongst learners in science. Many of the practical systemic problems can be addressed, giving individualised attention to each and every learner who needs it. The present study aims to understand pre- service teachers’ perceptions about the efficacy of Computer Assisted Learning material in addressing Alternative Frameworks amongst learners in science. The study reveals that in the perception of pre-service teachers, following may be the ways in which Computer Assisted Learning may be helpful in addressing Alternative Frameworks amongst learners in science.
