Para tanto, utilizou como paradigma um tweet do Presidente da República brasileira cujo conteúdo traduz o anseio pela aplicação de prisão perpétua no Brasil, ainda que isso viole Direitos Humanos e garantias constitucionais pátrias. Verificou-se que a manifestação cibernética teve longo alcance e apoio dos internautas, traduzindo a recepção do discurso punitivista e da normalização da violação a direitos fundamentais pela população em geral. Concluiu-se que paira sobre o Brasil um populismo penal muito parecido com o estadunidense. Onde os chefes de Estado utilizam-se dos instrumentos da Sociedade em Rede para propagação de discursos e agenda política pautadas no punitivistas e no encarceramento em massa. Traz-se, pois, soluções rasas para problemas estruturais complexos. Palavras-chave: Encarceramento; Mídia Sociais; Populismo Penal; Sociedade em Rede. ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze how the change in social communication, caused by the advent of both the Internet and of social networks, is related to the rhetoric taken by political representatives. To do so, it was used, as a paradigm, a tweet by the President of the Brazilian Republic to justify the popular wish for criminal life sentences, even though this violates both human and constitutional rights. It was verified that the cybernetic manifestation had long reach and support on the web, which translates into reception of this punitive speech and the normalization of the violation of fundamental rights by the population. It was concluded that a criminal populism very similar to the United States hangs over Brazil. Where the heads of state use the instruments of the Network Society for the propagation of political discourses and political agenda based on punitive and mass incarceration.
