Specifically, it assessed the ADPs’ attendance of NAER&P meeting, and discussed measurement issues arising from the reports in relation to good agricultural extension practices (GAEP). Annual reports of state agricultural development projects (ADPs) presented at the National Extension Review and Planning Meetings (NAERPMs), over five years (2013-2017), was used for the desk analysis. Results revealed that the indicators of agency and agents’ performances were not adequately and properly captured especially in line with good agricultural extension practices and the overall goal of extension. It is important to adequate measure the extension performance indicators to improve extension programs/services and their impacts on the clientele. It is expected that when this is properly understood and adopted by the extension agencies and specialists, the capabilities of M&E and the administration of extension programmes as a public (and private) good will be enhanced for systemic efficiency geared towards national development. Keywords: Performance measurement, extension monitoring, good agricultural extension practice Introduction In Nigeria, there are lots of challenges confronting agricultural research and extension delivery for which the NAER&P meeting needs to consider and address. These challenges (according to NAER&PM (2017) include among others: i. Absence of harmonized and coordinated efforts in research and extension activities. ii. Duplication of research efforts amongst the different NARIs. iii. Depth of breakthroughs addressing specific demands of farmers and industries. iv. Weak field extension delivery institution like ADPs, LG Agricultural Departments LGADs) etc. v. High Extension Agent (EA): farmer ratio.
