ABSTRACT
The behavior of soil characteristics is highly dependent on the type of mineral, the
amount of soil minerals, the composition of pore water, the size and shape of soil
particles and the cations absorbed. Other factors that influence soil characteristic
behavior are environmental factors such as water quality (polluted or clean water),
pressure, temperature, water content, and soil density. Increasing community
activities will also increase the disposal of waste items such as: household wastewater
(gray water) that contain pollutant parameters such as degrees of acid/potential
hydrogen (pH); disolved oxygen (DO); biochemical oxygen demand (BOD); chemical
oxygen demand (COD); total suspended solid (TSS); total disolved solid (TDS); and
oils and fats to rivers or into the soil so that rivers or soils become polluted and can
affect soil characteristic behavior. The soil characteristic behavior modelled in this
research was sensitive soil behavior with an activity value (A)> 1.327. Clay in this
research was taken in the Canggu area, Badung, while household wastewater (gray
water) was taken in the Ubung area, Denpasar. The results of research on land mixed
with household wastewater (grey water) that does not meet the household wastewater
quality standard, shows the liquid limit value is increased by 10.57%, the plastic limit
has increased by 14.30%, the shrinkage limit has increased by 10.15 %, dry volume
weight decreased by 13.38%, optimum water content increased by 8.33%, cohesion
(c) decreased by 53.44%, friction angle (Ø) decreased by 17.34%. Based on statistical
analysis using the SPSS program, it is found that the tendency of the characteristics of
the soil change significanly follows a linear pattern.
