Variations, adaptations et modifications des séquences figées Variation, adaptation and modification of phraseological units Abstract The aim of this paper is to investigate the phenomena and mechanisms revealing the semantic- structural potential of phraseological units. The phenomena implying the notion of change such as variation, adaptation, and modification are of our particular interest. It needs to be highlighted that the analysis allows to show the unstable nature of the discussed compounds (units) and, as a consequence, it may lead to undermining the existence of the notion of canonical form. The pre- sented analysis concerns the canonical and innovative use of the units collected from lexicographi- cal sources and online press. Keywords Phraseology, phraseological unit, variability, canonical form, variant À l’heure actuelle, les recherches phraséologiques basées sur les données issues de vastes corpus mettent en évidence le phénomène de la variabilité des séquences figées. L’étude de leurs réalisations discursives montre que ces unités se caractérisent par une flexibilité impliquant une certaine liberté combinatoire et une variation de leurs constituants, ce qui se manifeste, en autres, à travers des opérations de commutation et d’expansion (M. G r o s s, 1982 ; G. M i s r i, 1987 ; P. F i a l a, 1987 ; Ch. B e r n e t, 1992 ; G. G r é c i a n o, 1996 ; P. A c h a r d, 1997 ; S. M e j r i, 1998 ; J.-C. A n s c o m b r e, 2011 ; T. B e n A m o r, 2015). De ce point de vue, le figement qui constitue une propriété définitoire de ce type d’expressions ne peut pas être considéré comme une valeur absolue, ni associé uniquement à l’idée de rigidité de la forme et du sens, mais il devrait être vu en tant qu’un continuum qui va du moins contraint au plus contraint (G. G r o s s, 1988 ; S. M e j r i, 2005 ; L. P e r r i n, 2013).
