(Поглед върху мненията и нагласите на българските интернет потребители) Стоян Буров HOW DO BULGARIANS COMMENT ON LANGUAGE ISSUES ON THE INTERNET? (A glimpse on the opinions and attitudes of Bulgarian internet consumers) Observations are made on comments of internet consumers on topical issues of Bulgarian (pronunciation, spelling, use of loan words, grammar, etc.) with a greater emphasis on the opinions of those consumers that are not involved professionally with the language. Based on the observations, and after a specific analysis of the consumers’ attitudes in relation to the use of the long and short form of the definite article of masculine nouns, an attempt is made to draw a picture of the current virtual language situation. The analysis brings to the conclusion that the virtual language situation is not a projection of the real situation because of the polarization and emotional effect of the opinions that are additionally magnified by the media.
