47 Anastasia Pranindita, Anak Agung Banyu Perwita The Republic Of Korea—United States Of America’s “Strategic Patience”: A Counter Measurement of the Alliance in Responding Democratic People’s Republic Of Korea’s Nuclear Development Program (2013–2017) Abstract: Entering the 21st century, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is getting more impatient with the completion of its Nuclear Development Program, especially after Kim Jong-Un became the country’s supreme leader. As a result, the number of their nuclear and missiles tests under Kim Jong-Un’s administration even far exceeded the total number of his predecessors. Following the threatening situation, the Republic of Korea and United States of America, who has been an ally ever since the end of Korean War, have decided to work even closer in respond- ing this particular threat. Having the same common threat perception over Demo- cratic People’s Republic of Korea, the two countries cooperated closely than ever in converging their difference into one comprehensive policy to deter the latter’s nuclear threat. The Alliance’s effort resulted in the application of the Joint “Strategic Pa- tience” Approach strategy as a special measure to deal with the existing threat in Korean Peninsula. Therefore, this article will try to elaborate the implementation of the Joint “Strategic Patience” Approach of the alliance to counter the threat pos- sessed by Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s nuclear development program. Having been located in the heart of the Asia-Pacific region, the Nuclear Development Program created by DPRK has caused a Security
