Since the period of the partitions of Polish lands, a very dynamic development of Protestantism was noted in those belonging to the Prussian Empire, including the Poznań province an administra- tive unit coextensive with the geographical region called Greater Poland (Polish: Wielkopolska). The book focuses on the biological dynamics of the Lutheran population living in the Poznań prov- ince in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, its eco- logical and socio-cultural factors, and changes over time. "The research topic may be of interest not only to historians, biologists and demographers since one cannot exclude that even today there are people interested in the history of their ances- tors once living in the area belonging to the studied parishes."
