Abstract The payment of tithe by Christians suddenly became controversial when Daddy Freeze commented on his Instagram handle that tithes should not be paid because it is an Old Testament concept, and that tithe should be used to buy beer and wine and be drunk in the Church. His comments started a national discourse on a topic that has never really been broached until now, courtesy of the media. His comments have been causing disaffection among Christians who are now pitched for and against the payment of tithe. This study, therefore, set out to examine the sources through which people got to know about Daddy Freeze`s comments, and it investigated if his comments have influenced tithe payment in selected churches. The study employed the survey research method to carry out its objectives, and the hypothesis developed by the researcher was tested using the Chi-Square. The study was anchored on the Agenda Setting theory. Findings show that most people got to know about Daddy Freeze`s comments through the social media because they continued to rebroadcast these comments; and that the comments have not stopped people from paying their tithes.
