His research interests include research methodology (in particular survey methodology and multivariate categorical data analysis), the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu and classical European sociology/anthropology, empirical studies of social fields and social spaces, cultural sociology, the sociology of professions (in particular the journalistic profession) and the sociology of education. Political scientist Hilmar Mjelde is a post-doctor at Bergen University, Norway. His research interests include immigration discourse, American government and politics, and political parties.
