Particularly ethyl alcohol is of primary importance in the field of forensic medicine and the forensic specialists and the general practitioners are requested to provide expert opinion regarding the effects of alcohol use on individuals. While several tests to identify the effects of alcohol on neurological functions are available, the new tests having higher validity and reliability, which can be put in into practice should be developed as well. It was aimed in this study conducted with the participation of 17 healthy volunteers to investigate the changes in speech patterns of individuals after consuming 0,5mg/kg alcohol compared to those before alcohol intake. The findings such as prolongation of reading time and different pronunciation of the words were obtained. Hacettepe Articulation Test and the sentence test consisting of 12 sentences from the book entitled “A2 Basic Level Turkish for Foreigners” prepared and published by Gazi University Turkish Education Research and Application Center are considered valuable methods for forensic medicine practices to identify the level of neurological affection by evaluating speech functions of the individuals who consumed alcohol, when used along with forensic examination. Key words: Alcohol, Forensic medicine, Language tests Öz Alkol keyif verici olarak yaygın olarak kullanılan, aynı zamanda toksik ve bağımlılık yapıcı etkileri olan bir maddedir. Adli Tıp alanında özellikle etil alkol önem taşımakta olup, alkolün bireyler üzerindeki etkileri hususunda bilirkişi olarak Adli Tıp Uzmanlarından ve pratisyen hekimlerden görüş istenmektedir. Alkolün nörolojik fonksiyonlar üzerine etkilerini saptamak için birçok test mevcut olmakla birlikte pratikte uygulanabilir, geçerlilik ve güvenilirliği yüksek yeni testlerin geliştirilmesi gerekmektedir. 17 sağlıklı gönüllü kişi ile yapılan bu çalışmada alkol almadan önce ve 0,5 mg/kg alkol alımı sonrası kişilerin konuşma paternlerindeki değişimlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada katılımcıların okuma sürelerinde uzama, kelimelerin farklı telaffuz edilmesi gibi bulgular saptanmıştır. Adli Tıp uygulamalarında, Hacettepe Artikülasyon Testi ve Gazi Üniversitesi Türkçe Öğrenim Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi tarafından hazırlanıp yayınlanmış A2 Temel Düzeyinde Yabancılar için Türkçe adlı kitapta yer alan 12 cümleden oluşan cümle testinin alkollü bireylerdeki konuşma fonksiyonlarının değerlendirilerek nörolojik etkilenme düzeyini saptamada adli muayene ile birlikte kullanıldığında değerli bir yöntem olduğu düşünülmektedir.
