Email:saeedahmadresearch@gmail.com Abstract Quality of education is focused by all the stake holders as it is obligatory for the progress of any nation. Pakistan is also retrieving maximum efforts to get quality in academic as well as in professional dimensions of education system at all levels. The current research is an attempt to investigate the factors influencing quality of teacher education in teacher training institutes in province of Sindh, Pakistan. It follows mixed-method approach. Stratified random sampling design was adopted. Total of 501(300 teacher educators, 201 prospective teachers) respondents were selected from 30 institutes. Data was collected through three research instruments (2 questionnaires and an interview). It was analyzed through t-test, chi- test, and thematic qualitative descriptions. Research findings indicated that quality education is a dream without effective teachers. Their academic and professional qualification influences performance and achievement of students. In Pakistan, old traditional programmes are replaced with new innovative programmes in teacher education to meet the global challenges in teaching profession. Teachers’ role is also shifted from old structures and practices to advanced approaches in teaching learning process. Results also revealed that several factors influence quality of teacher education such as effectiveness of programme, curriculum, teachers’ competencies, expertisation, subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, learning environment and experiences, way of instructions, and use of ICT. Introduction Quality of education is matter of concern for all the stakeholders; and they are interlinked with each other in different ways. Thus, quality education stable learners in academics as well as in professional life to play dynamic roles for the welfare of society (McLean, Bond, & Nicholson, 2015). According to Colbert and Arboleda, (2016), quality education promises each and every pupil to give bright future and to make him/her a good citizen of society with suitable chances to be economically sound and safe. Among all the professions teaching is considered most prestigious one. Teacher is the person who play significant role in education system of any country (National Education Policy, 1998-2010). Thus, their academic and professional qualification is crucial factor which affects students’ performance highly because it is
