MAARIF Vol. 9, No. 2 — Desember 2014 1 Aktivisme Ahmadi Sebagai Jalan Keluar Perangkap Ortodoksi Zaenal Abidin Eko Putro Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, Kampus UI, Depok Abstract Jemaat Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI, or Indonesia’ Ahmadiyah Community) has been marginalized and victimized due to their Islamic understanding that differs with that of other Muslim belief mainly, but not exclusively, in West Java and West Nusa Tenggara. This feature is almost similar with Ahmadiyah Community in other country like for example Pakistan where Ahmadiyah Islamic group is banned by the government. Based on desk research method, this paper shows that although criticisms and objections sparkling by other Muslim group figures, human right defenders and moderate Islamic thinkers show their respect and give more attention on Ahmadi’ civil rights. Interestingly, some elit e members of JAI have also involved in this movement. In this regard, JAI member can merge their position in Indonesian democracy of Post Reformasi by following the civil right as well as human right movement. In addition, being connected with civil society’ movement to seek more open for their actitivies as well as to respect on human rights, it means that JAI could bargain their presence in front of Indonesian government, hence finally government could facilitate Ahmadi Muslim group to seek the solution to sustain their existence in indonesia instead of banning JAI haphazardly. Era pemerintahan Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) berakhir dengan meninggalkan sejumput masalah bagi keluarga besar Jemaat Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI). Masalah yang mendera JAI belum benar-benar tuntas, meski harus diakui pendekatan pemerintah era SBY dalam memediasi persoalan Ahmadiyah patut mendapat apresiasi. Awal era pemerintahan SBY ditandai dengan penyerbuan kantor pusat JAI dan Kampus Mubarak tahun 2005, lalu kekerasan terus menerus mendera JAI, dan melalui pendekatan dialogis, di akhir pemerintahan SBY penganut JAI masih dapat terus mengamalkan keyakinannya. Namun demikian, di berbagai tempat sisa-sisa kekerasan yang menyebabkan kerugian baik harta-benda maupun nyawa belum benar-benar dapat terpulihkan. Lalu, apa yang dapat diteruskan oleh pemerintahan baru di bawah Presiden Joko Widodo? Artikel ini tidak akan langsung merespon pertanyaan tersebut, melainkan akan lebih jauh mendeteksi partisipasi serta andil kalangan awam JAI dalam turut membangun dn membentengi kebhinnekaan Indonesia.
