A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

ABSTRACT
All over the world balanced development is emphasized by government to ensure
the ability of the country to advance its economy without having any destructive
consequences on the economy. Environmentalist consider green banking as one of the
valuable arms in order to ensure sustainable development. To implement green
banking policy environmental stakeholders today are encouraging financial
community strictly to aid in environmental protection. The core objective is to study
the green banking impact on sustainability, explore the dimensions of green banking
and also to study the prospects of green banking in Pakistan. A systematic review of
the literature was performed to achieve the objectives of the study. The published
literature suggests that green banking has significant impact on sustainability and the
dimensions explored are usually at the initial stage. The issuance of green banking
guidelines by central bank of Pakistan ensure the responsibility of banks to support
the initiative policy that transform the economy of the country towards climate
resilient and low carbon economy.
