A través de un recorrido cronológico, se consignan todas las piezas escritas en Manila por autores españoles o locales y se comenta brevemente el contenido de cada una de ellas. Se arguye que, en un contexto de fuerte censura y con pocos incentivos para la creatividad literaria, el teatro producido en Filipinas fue necesariamente de carácter menor o circunstancial, pero de mucha significación debido a la situa- ción ultraperiférica del territorio. Se incluye una tabla bibliográfica de los libros de fiestas producidos en el periodo tanto dentro como fuera de Manila. Abstract For the first time, this study analyzes the theatrical works performed in Manila during the first half of 18 th century. All the plays written by Spanish or local authors are addressed chronologically and the content of each one is briefly com- mented. I argue that the theater written in Manila was necessarily minor or cir- cumstantial due to the strong censorship and the lack of incentives for literary creativity. However, those plays are extremely meaningful when we take in con- sideration the ultraperipheral nature of the territory within the Spanish Empire. The article also includes a bibliographical table with all the books of feasts printed during that period inside and outside Manila.
