It must be noted that he had no heart symptoms. ECG showed nonspe- cific T-wave abnormalities in right precordial leads. A two-dimensional echocardiogram (2D- echo) showed a rounded echolucent mass in the middle portion of the interventricular septum protruding into both cardiac ventricles (Figs. 1 and 2), compatible with hydatid cyst (HC). Two-dimensional echo- cardiography, parasternal long-axis view, illustrating a large hydatid cyst in the interventricular septum. ings of computer tomography (CT) were also suggestive of HC, which was securely removed surgically and proved to be hydatid. Case 2 A 56-year-old woman was referred to our hos- pital for investigation of a 2-week history of atypical chest pain, palpitations, and dyspnea. A 12-lead ECG showed diffuse abnormalities (ST depression and T wave inversion) in leads I, aVL, and V 1 –V 6 . The 2D-echo showed multi- ple cysts with honeycomb appearance within a dilated right ventricular (RV) cavity. The find- ings were prominent only from a slightly mod- ified four-chamber view (Fig. 3). RV and LV Doppler inflow patterns were normal. Patient’s symptoms may have been caused by the dilated RV, encroaching on the LV chamber. The 2D- echo diagnosis of cardiac HC was subsequently Vol. 23, No. 9, 2006 ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY: A Jrnl. of CV Ultrasound & Allied Tech. 807
