Abstract In this paper are describe a learning experience speed control using three phase electric motors. Comparative tests were made between different traditional techniques for PID control, but mostly control experiments were prepared using Fuzzy Logic. This logic uses mathematical models of control, which often culminate in faster responses to the system, reduced errors, greater stability, more security and reliability. To reach to the goals of this research was elaborated one bench simulation possessing a programmable logic controller, responsible for the processing of physical signals of the sensors in the engine and also responsible for the implementation of control algorithms implemented as actuators were used frequency inverters. The results of the various control techniques were compared, and then exposed the main differences between the systems, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each. Through tests, in order to simulate several situations occurring in an industrial plant, it was the behavior of the engine and its responses during application loading and subsequent release of the same, through the brake Foucault specially constructed. In this condition, the system performed better in Fuzzy Set Point adjustment without load, with a minor when compared to PID. The application and release of the load, it was observed that the peak positive and negative rotation were higher in the PID control, with greater variation in error. Already the fuzzy control system presented lower peaks and lower error values. The response time and error correction was faster in fuzzy controller compared to PID. The studies demonstrated the possibility of application of fuzzy logic in supervisory control systems in the field of Industrial Automation and troubleshooting processes that present instability.
