The Students’ Attitudes Concerning the Learning Process LILIANA DUGULEANA, CONSTANTIN DUGULEANA Management Department, Finances, Accounting and Economic Theory Department Transilvania University from Brasov 29, Eroilor Str., Brasov ROMANIA Abstract: - The development of information technology and communications changes the behaviour of students face to the learning process. Their expectations concerning the needs of information and study resources for exams have increased. The paper presents the students’ opinions about the study conditions in the university libraries, the satisfaction of using the information sources and their attitudes concerning the using of traditional sources face to on-line and Internet sources, resulting from a marketing research at TRANSILVANIA University from Brasov, Romania. Key-Words: - Learning process, Information sources, On-line sources, Academic library, Marketing research 1 Introduction There are a lot of theories about the learning processes. The learning process theory of Vygotsky, based on social knowledge, the theory of social learning process of Bandura, the constructive theory of Bruner, the sub summation theory of Ausubel and the theory of cognitive structures of Piaget – influenced the development of educational processes. An adequate curricula for a logical development of fundamental concepts and the establishment of cognitive structures by the critical role of experiences and interactions with the environment, may conduct to good learning processes. Kolb (1984) explained the development model based on learning by experience. Lave (1991) named the „social interaction” as a critical component of the „situated learning” because those who are learning become implied in a „practice community” which will have some thoughts and behaviors. The concept of „learning styles” has the roots in the classification of sociological types. The theory of „learning styles” is based on researches that show that different individuals differently receive and process the information as a result of heredity, growing and the actual needs of environment. The evaluation of learning styles must respond to the characteristics selected by students. The evaluations are applied to each student and resume the preferences of environment processes, the emotional, sociologic, physiologic, and global and analytical behavior for learning processes. 2 The Internet Learning Process and the Academic Library Internet became more and more popular for students. The education process uses instructive application online, more than presentation pages. The utilization of information technology in education was debated more than thirty years; the interaction individual-computer, being the subject of the theoretical and empirical researches in the fields of psychology, and the studies about library/information for understanding the reasons and the limits for using the Internet services. The implication of individuals in using of the information technologies is more complex and based on a mix of psychological, economic and pragmatic reasons. There are no studies about the objectives and the purposes of students for using the information technologies everyday, in their academic and non-academic life. The concept of academic library, as a study environment for students, an active part of learning process of a certain program, it has an important role in the new context, being a part of the university infrastructure and offering study and research services. A lot of information does not necessarily conduct to the development of the study medium. A student must identify the medium which will help him to touch the study purposes. The educational medium must respond to the needs of the academic study programs, defining the objectives and the competences to be obtained. 4th WSEAS/IASME International Conference on EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES (EDUTE'08) Corfu, Greece, October 26-28, 2008 ISSN: 1790-5109 112 ISBN: 978-960-474-013-0
