Resilience plays an important role in empowering rural communites against food risk. Therefore, resil-
ience has been paid atenton to as a suitable strategy mitgatng vulnerability and crisis management of
natural disasters in many countries. The present study aims to analyze the social components afectng
the resilience of rural areas in the east of Guilan province against food hazard. The present research is
an applied research and data was collected using a descriptve-analytcal method based on documentary
sources and feld studies (questonnaire). The study sample consisted of 379 householders in rural areas
which were selected by Cochran's method. Then, one sample T-test was used to prove the signifcance
and generalizability of the results, and coefcient of correlaton and regression method were used to an-
alyze the data and the efect of social components on resilience. The results show that the component of
collectve partcipaton has the greatest impact on improving the resilience of rural communites to the
components of place atachment, social trust, and knowledge. Finally, resilience scores from the study
area indicate that the villages of Eshkevar Sofa and Divshal are at the lowest level and the villages of
Dahgah, Daryasar, and Kojid are at the highest level in terms of social components of resilience to foods.

Extended Abstract
1. Introduction
ankind has always faced natural haz-
ards and suffered from them throughout
history. Thus, resilience to natural di-
sasters is a way of strengthening com-
munities by using their potential. In
general, although precipitation is low in many parts of
Iran, in most regions, annual precipitation can happen
overnight. This factor, along with the steep slopes of the
mountainous regions that make up our rural communities,
has made fooding a major concern in almost all seasons.
Since rural areas generally have the greatest vulnerability
and receive minimal attention during these natural disas-
ters, such as the damage caused by the fooding of rural
areas in the east of Guilan province from 2016 to 2019,
