Abstract— This paper examines and analyzes the security
measures that address the difficulties that are faced by the
house owners and also the bank locker holders. Current door
monitoring system methods involves the use of digital locks, Wi-
Fi technology to check the status of the door periodically
leading to a reduction in theft and robbery or burglary that
happens per every 3 minutes in India as per reports. According
to the report, Indians continue to place greater emphasis on
keeping their online safety systems up-to-date in order to
ensure safety of their homes. Using LoRa technology, we can
endlessly monitor the status of the door i.e. whether it is open
or closed and based on the status further actions like alarming,
sending an emergency notification are done to notify and alert
the owner and to improve security. Lora Technology
reconfigured the IoT by enabling long distance data
connections while using very little power. LoRaWAN fills a
technical gap for mobile-based and a WiFi networks which
needs higher power or high bandwidth or even the inability to
penetrate into deep indoor areas.

I. INTRODUCTION
The basis of installing a door monitoring system is to
create and accentuate the home and bank locker safety.
Indeed, home safety is a major concern for citizens as well
as for police and authorities. Therefore, to encourage people
to protect their homes and bank lockers against threats such
as robbery, burglary and thefts, this system can be installed
in the doors of their homes or lockers.
To keep living residences safe from such violent crime
requires not only better action from the authorities but also
greater readiness from citizens. Keeping the same in mind,
this door monitoring system is to make people more
watchful and vigilant when it comes to home-safety.
Reports also note that while people are aware of rise of
digital locks, there is no proactive or effective
implementation when it comes to protecting assets within
homes. This means a high percentage of people who are not
equipped to deal with the threat to home security and,
surprisingly, the most common theft in India is home theft.
This highlights that home safety requires equal or greater
care that digital security enjoys as most people do not want
to advance to high technological safety in homes. A proven
strategy need to be imposed for ensuring security and to
monitor house environment.
This paper aims to develop a system providing home
security or a home monitoring system using Internet of
Things (IoT) by integrating the Arduino Uno and LoRa
shield as a controller [1]. The home security system contains
a Reed switch to monitor the status of the door and uses LoRa
technology to send notification to users. When the device is
connected to a LoRaWAN network, LoRa devices
incorporate a wider range of applications by transferring the
packets containing important details. In fact, LoRa
Technology is evolving with various cases of domestic or
rural uses like smart houses, smart cities and buildings,
smart agriculture, smart supply chain, smart meters for
monitoring, logistics and a series of smart feeds. The
proposed LoRa powered device consists of a reed switch
which monitors the status of the door and alerts the owner
immediately whenever the door is opened which is
implemented by Arduino Uno.
Using LoRa Technology in the door monitoring system
using Internet of Things instead of using Wifi or Gsm
Technology is cost effective and also user friendly. The
reason behind its better performance is it overcomes the
disadvantages in the existing projects by consuming low
power and long range transmission (distance coverage by
LoRa). LoRa (which stands for Long Range) which is found
in Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) technology is a technique
used for spread spectrum modulation [2].
Therefore, it is more important to have an efficient
inspection device with very less defects to notify the owner
or to intimate him to take protective measures immediately
