This paper presents an analysis of the burial of the Bandkeramik culture discovered in Baїv in 1939. It provides a new reconstruction and accurate description of the vessel, which was a part of the grave goods. Detailed analy- sis of the ornamentation allowed us to affliate the burial with the end of the early phase of the Bandkeramik, pre-music note horizon. Key words: Early Bandkeramik, pre-music note phase, burial, Ukraine, Volhynia Received: 4.10.2012; Revised: 12.01.2013; Accepted: 28.06.2013 ZUR FORSCHUNGSGESCHICHTE Im Jahre 1939 wurde in Baїv eine linienbandkeramische Bestattung entdeckt. Der Ort liegt im Tal der Čornohuzka, einem linken Nebenfuss des Styr (Abb. 1). Es gibt nur wenige Angaben über das einstige Aussehen der Bestattung, keine über die konkreten Fundum- stände. Auch ist eine Lokalisierung der Fundstelle im Gelände nicht mehr möglich.
