I Introduction 7-Cordierite (Mg2Al~SisOls) is a hexagonal frame- work silicate having a o = 9.770/~ and co = 9.352/~, with zeolite-like channels parallel to the c axis. The list of industrial and commercial applications for cordierite-based ceramics is extensive.
