ABSTRACT
MPC-SPR model - a Gaussian dispersion model is similar to ISCST3. Emission
inventory was gathered from CARD, Neyveli. The Meteorological data were observed
from the Meteorological observatory at Vadalur. The hourly meteorological file was
prepared and fed into MPC-SPR Model. The dispersion pattern of SO2 was mapped by
using MPC-SPR Model by considering all the emissions sources at NLC India Ltd.
Key words: MPC-SPR, SO2, CARD, ISCST3 etc.,

1. INTRODUCTION
Air pollution is also life-threatening if one has to inhale poor quality of air. Thermal power
plants, smelting industry, and refinery, etc are the major sources of Air pollutants. Thermal
Power plants alone me about 60% of power generation in India. The thermal power stacks t
emit large amount of PM, SO2, NOX, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon into
the ambient air and subsequently directly or indirectly produce harmful effects on the
environment and human health.
