It is an advanced application of machine learning, artificial intelligence and deep learning are used in most of the industries where the conditions are too risky for humans to work. However there are lots of challenges to build efficient, accurate and reliable cognitive systems as it requires integration of various data generating applications across the organization. In this paper we tried to put forth the challenges commonly faced by organizations in implementing such a system and the opportunities that can be leveraged by deploying cognitive automation solutions. We also discussed few Cognitive automation applications as case studies for better understanding. Key words: Cognitive Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Enterprise Data warehouse, Prescriptive Maintenance. INTRODUCTION Cognitive automations systems are capable of processing huge volume of data in an incremental way. The data processing capabilities of a cognitive system makes it far more superior to human capabilities due to its capacity to store huge volume of historical data and its ability to retrieve them at any given point of time. The storage capacity is so high that for a decision to be finalized, the system can read entire enterprise data and other best practices across similar enterprise to arrive at a conclusion, all this in split of a second depending on the computational power and access to data it has. The other unique capability of these systems is the ability to mimic humans like action supported by context, which can be well suited to automate repetitive jobs which need certain degree of human rationale. A stable processes and schedule operations enables an organization to deliver superior quality of operations, cognitive automation helps to automate and ensure that there are no misses in handling any of the job. In doing so, it processes huge volume of data from large
