To this end, the testimony of the Byzantine gram- marian Stephanos, who lived in the seventh century, is first reviewed. Secondly, the proposals of some contemporary scholars (Pohlenz, Ber- rettoni, Mársico) that are particularly significant in relation to the ques- tion of aspect in Stoic verbal theory are analysed. Finally, the main rea- sons are given that support the hypothesis that the Stoics took charge of the aspectual category, as it was already present in the metaphysical sphere in the reflection on space, time and movement, even before its application — reported by grammarians — in the field of verbal tenses. Il presente articolo si propone di fare il punto sulla questione dibattuta se gli Stoici abbiano o no proposto una teoria dei tempi verbali che tenesse conto della categoria dell’aspetto. A questo scopo viene innanzitutto rie- saminata la testimonianza del grammatico bizantino Stefano, vissuto nel settimo secolo. In secondo luogo vengono analizzate le proposte di al- cuni studiosi contemporanei (Pohlenz, Berrettoni, Mársico) particolar- mente significative in relazione alla questione dell’aspetto nella teoria verbale stoica. Infine, vengono conclusivamente addotte le principali ragioni che avvalorano l’ipotesi della presa in carico, da parte degli Stoici, della categoria aspettuale, in quanto già presente in ambito metafisico nella riflessione su spazio, tempo e movimento, prima ancora che nella sua applicazione — riportata dai grammatici — nel campo dei tempi verbali.
