It has been identified that modern mobile phones are designed to promote the learning experience and supports M-Learning. This research article concentrates on providing an insight on the various factors that can have an impact of the technological innovations like Mobile Learning (M-Learning) on Education in general but Adult Education in particular. This research is trying to identify the key factors which has the highest impact on the continuation of education among adult rural learners of India. This research work is based on a survey of fifty-three neo-literates at the outskirts of Chennai towards their perception of usage of mobile phones for education. The feedback collected from participants are analyzed and results are plotted to make sense of the important factors and technologies which are a core part of taking Adult Education to the most remote parts of India. INTRODUCTION The increasing popularity of mobile phones coupled with wider availability of better and inexpensive mobile data, has made it an essential tool in our day to day lives. This paper tries to identify the role M-Learning plays in the lives of rural Indians for accomplishing their quest of continuing education. With the increasing availability of broadband, Wi-Fi hotspots; accessing content has never been easier. However, the availability of computers hasn’t changed at the same space. According to Kara, there are various challenges faced by adult learners which are related to age, gender, knowledge and skill they study [1]. The processing capabilities of Mobile phones has made it possible to replace computers in certain aspects of learning and education. The certain factors which led to us examining the importance of Adult learning revolves around the factors shown in figure 1. These have jump started the conversation of adults foraying into continuing their education after a long break or starting their education from scratch at an age which was considered unconventional just a few years back. Figure 1: Factors governing Adult Education The factors shown above range from the continuous improvement and growth that an individual is trying to attain to the drastic change in the mentality of the Indian society as a whole. The outlook towards education has change radically in the past decade. Education went on to becoming a necessity from being a luxury which was available to a small privileged population. The third factor, (Information and Communication Technologies) ICT, has been a pillar of modern Indian Education System and is inadvertently responsible for the shift in attitude towards Adult Education.A huge chunk of population in rural India wishes to be literate but isn’t able to do so
