By using mobile devices, people have broken the time and space frontiers of communication, making the market of such gadgets grow rapidly and become leader of the new technological development. Mobile users are looking permanently for new specified software solutions to have access to the knowledge and digital content for educational purposes. This paper will describe in few words our effort to research and develop a mobile learning system and mobile knowledge system founded by a national research program PNII. Keywords: mobile learning, mobile knowledge system. I. INTRODUCTION The access to knowledge and educational resources anywhere and anytime is one of the main objectives of the knowledge society, an aspect that can be found in the frame documents from the European Union. Furthermore, an important direction of development is represented by the growth of technology enhanced learning. Thus, the main interest of both formal and informal educational institutions and of companies that supply technology is to synchronize as much as possible the educational requirements and objectives with the technological possibilities and developments. From this attempts, the field of mobile technologies cannot be absent as it offers a greater freedom of movement to all beneficiaries of the educational content. With the unprecedented development and the perspectives on the mobile devices market, the identification of transfer solutions for the educational content adapted to the characteristics of different types of telephones and mobile devices has become a priority. From this perspective, a consortium of five national partners launched a project in 2008 within the national research program PNII entitled: “Research regarding the design of an experimental model of a mobile learning-type virtual network with real time access to knowledge and learning, using communication technologies and wireless terminal devices”. The project has two major approaches, covering two major objectives:
