Therefore, this study aims to review the role of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in reducing burnout levels among academicians from Malaysian research universities. A systematic search of the literature was conducted, and limited studies were identified to meet the criteria of inclusion in the review. The results of the study demonstrated that ACT plays the role to reduce burnout levels among participants while observing improved levels of psychological flexibility. The findings of the study are helpful to both academics and practitioners who desire to manage burnout pervasiveness among academicians from Malaysian research universities.
