The international community shift the focus towards the fight against pandemic although the environmental issues continues in the global agenda .World Economic Forums -Global Risks 2021 reported that, in ranking, infectious diseases bumped climatic change in to second place but both rank ahead of weapons of mass destruction. Transformation must be needed and in this time the call is for a green transformation. Development of skills, at a young age right at the school level, is very essential to channelize students for proper job opportunities . Green skills are skills that are included in the list that a student has to acquire in order to increase self- quality and it also gives an added value to individuals to compete in this globalizational era. Green skills , have a significant association with green technology which will contribute to sustainable development in terms of the environment, economy and social activities. Educational Institutions in India are suffering from challenges of producing skilled workforce to move towards a green economy..Inorder to rescue our educational institutions by overcoming the challenges of green skills ,GSDP (Green Skill Development Programmes ) are conducted by Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.Green skills are to be promoted because it is the need of the hour towards sustainable development.By giving green skill we could give children a self employment skill and also dignity of labour and confidence to face the life. This article explains Green skills,Green transformation, Green Skill Development Programmes in India and the integration of green skills in sustainable development for preserving and conserving the environment.
