ABSTRACT This paper introduces the need for challenging and solving future environmental problems and issues that are expected to affect our lives and architecture in the future. As an approach to fulfill this need, the paper introduces “future architecture” as a new educational approach for solving future environmental problems and issues. The paper investigates this new concept of architectural education, and explores principles, methodologies, and educational techniques that could be used to successfully apply future architecture design. The paper consists of two main parts; the first one introduces the meaning and objectives of this new educational concept, its impact on the design educational curriculum, programs, techniques, and design studio environment. The second part displays an experimental study for incorporating future architecture concept into design pedagogy for the third year architectural educational level at the faculty of engineering - Cairo University (Fayoum branch). The paper concludes by highlighting the importance of incorporating future architecture concept into design pedagogy in Egyptian schools of architecture as an approach for solving future environmental problems, and determining different educational curriculum, programs, techniques, and skills that should be used to reach the paper objectives.
