ACADEMIA Letters A study on the Impact of Satellite channels observation on Religious Beliefs (Among the Residents of Zanjan City) Hosein Ahmadi, Farhangyan University Abstract Religious beliefs such as other types of beliefs are learned through socialization, which is nowadays the role of the media, especially satellite networks, as an important socializing agent Irrefutable. There is no doubt about the importance of this type of media in modern societies, but Are new media also playing a major role in traditional societies? Especially if this role is related to the beliefs that the traditional community is based on, what will happen? The purpose of this study was to answer some of the above questions by recognizing the role of satellite channels observation and how to access satellite channels in religious beliefs of the audience of this type of media in Zanjan city. Methodologically, this research has been descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional and ap- plied research. Using Cochran’s formula, sample size calculated 388 people, and the data were collected using a cluster sampling method among respondents. The fndings of the research indicate the importance of satellite channels observation and the type of networks in determining of respondents’ beliefs and confrm the researcher’s as- sumptions about the role of the satellite in tendency to religious beliefs, but these fndings suggest that these relations are not linear. Based on the fndings, consideration of other com- plementary variables is recommended to explain this relationship.
