วารสารสังคมลุ่มนํ้าโขง : ปีที่ 7 ฉบับที่ 2 พฤษภาคม-สิงหาคม 2554 หน้า 109-128 Journal of Mekong Societies : Vol.7 No.2 May-August 2011, pp. 109-128 The Identity of the Hero in Lao Myths 1 Currently studying towards a Master’s Degree in Thai at Department of Thai and Eastern Language Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Mahasarakham University บทคัดย่อ จากการส�ารวจต�านานปรัมปราที่ปรากฏในวัฒนธรรมลาว พบว่ามีภาพของตัวละคร วีรบุรุษปรากฏอยู ่เป็นจ�านวนมาก และมีหลากหลายลักษณะ อันสามารถสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความ ส�าคัญและความหมายในมิติทางวัฒนธรรมที่มีต่อสังคมลาวได้อย่างน่าสนใจ บทความนี้มุ ่งศึกษา อัตลักษณ์ (Identity) ของความเป็นวีรบุรุษ (Hero) ในต�านานปรัมปราของลาว โดยเลือกประยุกต์ ใช้แนวคิดเรื่อง อนุภาค (Motif) เป็นหลัก เพื่อการท�าความเข้าใจลักษณะและตีความของต�านาน ปรัมปรา จากการศึกษาพบว่าแนวคิดเรื่องอนุภาค ช่วยให้มองเห็นอัตลักษณ์ของความเป็นวีรบุรุษ ในวัฒนธรรมของลาว ทั้งนี้ผู้เขียนได้จ�าแนกอนุภาคออกเป็น 3 ประเภทด้วยกัน คือ อนุภาคที่ เป็นวัตถุสิ่งของ, อนุภาคที่เป็นตัวละคร และอนุภาคที่เป็นเหตุการณ์หรือพฤติกรรม บทความนี้ ได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงโลกทัศน์และความหมายของความเป็นวีรบุรุษในมิติทางวัฒนธรรมของชาวลาว ที่สืบทอดมาตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน Abstract A survey of Lao culture reveals that there are numerous heroic characters with diverse traits that represent signifcant dimensions of culture in Lao society. This article aims to study the identity of the hero in Lao myths primarily by applying the concept of motif in order to understand and interpret myths. It is based found on a study which found that the concept of motif can help identify heroes and their role in Lao culture. The author organized motifs into three categories: object motifs, character motifs, and event or behavior motifs.
