First, the user and service aspects are highlighted as the main motivation for advanced mobile radio systems. Then, different state-of-the art radio systems are described with a focus on evolution towards converged systems. Finally, possible evolution scenarios are highlighted with respect to business and technology aspects, and for each Concept Group scenario, the evolution of typical service usage is illustrated.
