The Case of Latin-American Immigrants in Barcelona RocĂ­o Aliaga-Isla*, Alex Rialp Business Economics Department, Autonomous University of Barcelona Edificio B Campus de la UAB, CP. 08193 Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Valles), Barcelona, Spain ABSTRACT This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge related to immigrant entrepreneurship. Consistent with the notion of entrepreneurship as a process, a qualitative exploration of information and experiences acquired by immigrants in catering sector is performed to know how they play a role on discovery entrepreneurial opportunities. Our sample consisted of four cases of Latin-American immigrants. The results showed that the process of discovery is based on the interrelation among information and experiences acquired in migration periods. The knowledge acquired in home country constituted the bases and the acquired one in host country is complementary because refine, enlarge and influence in the process of discovering. Also, the results revealed that immigrants trust on information that coming from their social ties and it is enough to make a decision of create a business.
