Abstract
This investigation primarily aimed at describing the relationship between the level of super-
vision practices of elementary school administrators and the academic performance of pupils
in 128 elementary schools in the division of Eastern Samar. A total of 128 school princi-
pals/headteachers were randomly selected to evaluate their supervision practices in terms of
six (6) parameters, which include: Class Observations, Lesson Plan Evaluation, and assis-
tance in the formulation of Table of Specifcation (TOS) and Test Questions (TQs), Provision
of Instructional Materials, and Organization of In-Service Trainings (INSETS). Secondary
data regarding pupils’ 1st quarter unifed test MPS were obtained from each school. Using
appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical tools, analyses revealed that the majority of
the respondents perform their supervisory functions at “High” levels implying that the re-
spondents are well aware of their responsibilities as school managers and that they have a
high commitment to performing functions expected of them. As to the academic performance
of pupils, it was found that learners from most of the elementary schools perform far below
the acceptable national standards. Results suggest that there is declining performance among
schools in the division, as manifested by the poor academic performance of learners. The test
on correlation found a signifcant relationship between the two variables. It is implied that
the degree to which school managers perform their supervisory functions infuences learners’
academic achievement. It is therefore recommended that schools should carefully consider
