Parcon, M.A. Ateneo de Davao University Davao City, Philippines icrparcon@addu.edu.ph Abstract Hannah Arendt’s notion of agonistic politics which include principles of freedom, equality and plurality provides an important contribution to the shaping of a normative grounding for democracy. The relevance of her contribution to democratic theorizing cannot be underestimated given the groundedness of her reflections. Her reflections are also relevant as an analytical frame in analyzing various facets of the political reality specifically the context of the Philippines especially in enriching the discourse on active citizenship.
