We define the very concept of quality, its impact on the competitiveness of these amounts advantages and disadvantages of a certified quality system. The study is an overview of attitudes , experiences and plans QM Croatian companies exporting to the EU. Most of the companies surveyed have organized quality management systems and are very much aware of the importance of it. Key words: quality, competitiveness , ISO certificate, export.
