No. 13-17 Peer Reviewed Journal Research Artcle Abstract The 2 n mixing theory, based on kneading and lapping mechanism, was developed with the concept of Japanese noodle (UDON) making method. This theory was verifed, with the development of the M-Y mixer, for mixing light and viscous materials using on the horizontal way. The mixing mechanism was modifed to inter-partcle collisions and impact with the actons of splitng and recombinaton in order to mix large partcle materials, like diferent types of concrete with the use of the M-Y mixer on the vertcal way. In order to represent the mixing performance of this mixer only under gravity, it was renamed as Energy Saving Gravity (ESG) mixer. This paper describes the contnuous mixing performance of Dam concrete in ESG mixer. It was verifed, with large scale mixing experimental work in real constructon site, that the ESG mixer gives the required propertes of Dam concrete for constructon. Introduction Various Mixers are commercially available in the market around the world. However, they use the almost similar basic principle of mixing. In every type of Mixers, the energy is induced to str the materials resultng with the acton of dispersion and the coatng which are the two main results of the mixing process. In some cases, conventonal type Mixers fail to show their efciency for mixing materials, like very viscous, lean and those with very diferent specifc gravity. And, moreover, these mixers have not given their best performance in carrying out the contnuous mixing. Many research works have been carried out to develop the new mixing methods like SEC method [1], two steps of mixing methods [1, 2, 3], double mixing method [2, 4] etc. The efort is also made to develop diferent kinds of chemical admixture like super plastcizer, water reducing agents, viscous agent to upgrade the quality of concrete and even to develop new type of concrete like High Performance Concrete [2], High Strength Concrete, Super Quality Concrete [5] etc. Moreover, ice cooling systems and air cooling systems have also been used for the producton of low temperature dam or Roller Compacted Dam (RCD) concrete. However, the basic principle of any type of concrete Mixers are quite similar in which the materials are dispersed and coated with the acton of strring to obtain the even quality of concrete. In this respect, this study focuses on a completely diferent type of new mixing theory, on which materials are kneaded and lapped instead of strring, and then on its practcability with the required modifcaton on this mechanism. Principle of 2 n mixing Theory and Its Verifcation The new 2 n mixing theory, based on kneading and lapping mechanism, is quite similar to the traditonal method of making Udon. For making Udon, a mixture of four and water is frstly spread to a certain thickness. Then, it is folded so that half of it is placed on top of the other. The two layers of four are spread out fat again to the original thickness. This spreading and folding is repeated to form two, four and eight layers. Afer repeatng the process ten tmes, all of 1,024 layers can be formed. And, the number
