The Anatomy of Anything: The Design and Reintroduction of Itawit Terminology to Students using Visual Grouping of Infographics BY Michael T. Tabao Architect Faculty, University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, Philippines mikel765tabao@gmail.com Abstract Infographics is represented by information and images. With the continuous development of graphic software and ubiquity of social media, Student-engagement with digital media is readily available by means of electronic devices such as their smart phones, tablets, and laptop/desktop computers. It exploits design as an information-based medium of the mind and depends on the reaction of the Students and deliberately guides the receiver using diagrammatic systems. The purpose of designing Student-oriented infographics seeks to engage the viewers (Students) as receivers communicated by the designer. The Researcher posits that the infographic design is best understood by using the “big picture” (macro -level image, eg. The Human Body) and translating the constituents of the “big picture” into Itawit terms. The “big picture” becomes a visual grouping which ultimately guides the perception and comprehension of the infographic design. It further simplifies and reinforces education in Itawit words and terminology by using mental images and moderate abstraction to trigger and heighten the reaction of the receiver.
