J.RADIOANAL.NUCL.CHEM.,LETTERS 144 /5/ 335-341 /1990/ ISOTOPIC ANALYSIS OF 7LiOH SAMPLES BY SSMS M R.A. Lukaszew, C.J. Noutary, R.F. Cretella Comisi6n Nacional de Energia At6mica, Av. del Libertador 8250, 1429 - Buenos Aires, Argentina Received 12 December 1989 Accepted 2 January 1990 A methodology for the isotopic determi- nation of lithium in enriched 7LiOH.2H20 samples by SSMS is described. The photo- plate emulsion calibration curve was not used. The accuracy of the results was checked against the analysis of LiOH.2H20 with natural isotopic composition, and it was found that the result obtained was accurate within 5% with respect to the published natural value. The a~curacy was improved using an enriched in "Li re- ference sample. The technique was applied to the analysis of batches of ~LiOH.2H20 to be used in a nuclear power reactor to control the pH in the water cooling sys- tem. INTRODUCTION For power nuclear reactors that have water-cooled systems, the use of materials with good corrosion re- sistance in water at high temperatures is very impor- tant.
