Abstract: Water audit tools are used to evaluate water distribution systems’ performance. Most water audit tools include the estimation of the system’s Water Balance and Performance Indicators. The International Water Association has proposed a database of 170 performance indicators in 2006. Since then the existing performance indicators are continuously assessed and new ones are proposed. The present paper presents the 42 new Performance Indicators developed within WATERLOSS project aiming at addressing local problems and conditions met in the Mediterranean area. These new performance indicators are being developed to perform an integrated methodology for the reduction of the Non-Revenue Water values. The performance indicators development methodology is presented. The case of the Water Board of Nicosia is presented. The problems and limitations encountered during the performance indicators’ calculation process are analysed. Key words: Performance Indicators; Urban water supply systems; Non Revenue Water; Water losses
