Observamos que tais transformações estão ligadas as diferentes teorias da administração, mas principalmente aos diferentes projetos de país elaborados pelos governos brasileiros, que na última década foram fortemente influenciados pelo Consenso de Washington. O artigo apresenta uma sucinta explanação sobre a aplicação da administração gerencial à educação e sobre como a implantação de sistemas de avaliação institucional contribuíram para isto, gerando ao mesmo tempo uma polêmica sobre a “mercantilização da educação” e o questionamento dos instrumentos de avaliação. Acreditamos, no entanto que aplicar políticas gerenciais na educação é uma forma de aperfeiçoar o seu resultado e melhorar o processo de aprendizado, ao garantir uma utilização ótima de recursos para o processo docente. MANAGING THE EDUCATION: THE APPLICATION OF THE MODEL OF MANAGERIAL ADMINISTRATION IN THE BRAZILIAN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM ABSTRACT: This article aims to analyze the changes of the administration of education in Brazil, focusing especially managerial innovations in education. Noticed that these changes are linked the various theories of government, but mainly to the different projects from country prepared by Brazilian governments, which in the last decade have been strongly influenced by the Washington Consensus. First, a brief analysis of Brazilian public administration is performed, and then it is presented a short explanatory description of the concepts of business management applied to education and how these were influenced by the creation of the institutional evaluation. Then, the polemics on “mercantile education” and the discussion on evaluation mechanisms are presented. Nevertheless, we believe that applying managerial techniques in education is a way to perfect its result and improve the learning process, by guaranteeing an optimal resource use in the teaching process.
