It incorporates epistemology and ontology to reflect human cognition characteristics; exploits social, ecological and economic principles; and adopts the techniques and standards developed during work toward the future web. Grids tie together distributed storage systems and execution platforms into globally accessible resources, while Data Grids provide collection, management and global namespaces for organizing data objects that reside within a grid. The present paper is an attempt to present a comprehensive view of a Grid System that depicts the relationships among the Internet, the Grid, the Semantic Web, the Semantic Grid, and the Knowledge Grid. The study also present useful resources from the environment transform and organize them into semantically rich forms that could be used easily by both machine and humans. Introduction The Knowledge Grid is an intelligent and sustainable Internet application environment that enables people or virtual roles (mechanisms that facilitate interoperation among users, applications, and resources) to effectively capture, coordinate, publish, understand, share and manage knowledge resources. It provides on-demand and robust services to support innovation, cooperative teamwork, problem solving and decision making in a distributed environment, which varies in scale and stability. It incorporates epistemology and ontology to reflect human cognition characteristics; exploits social, ecological and economic principles; and adopts the techniques and standards developed during work toward the future web. The Knowledge Grid is expected to go beyond the traditional grid with mining and question answering techniques.
